SUPERVISES: Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Nursing Assistant II, Unit Secretary, and Unit-Based Housekeeper Supervises from 15 - 70 employees

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Plans, organizes, budgets, directs and controls all activities of an assigned unit on a 24-hour, 7 day a week basis. Functions independently within broad scope of established policies and goals. Refers specific problems to Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operating Officer where clarification, interpretation, or exception to hospital policy, may be required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Graduation from an approved nursing education program with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field or enrolled in an accredited program. Current license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts . Current Basic Life Support Certification. Successful passage of CCHC's Pharmacology Exam.

Three to five years of progressively responsible hospital nursing experience, including experience as a Charge Nurse. Must demonstrate leadership abilities. Must possess good oral and written communication skills.

A minimum of 5-7 years experience in Emergency Nursing.

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Trauma Nursing certification strongly preferred.

Broad background knowledge and skills in practice of nursing profession with evidence

of a strong clinical and theoretical base.



Knowledge of theories, principles and concepts acquired by completing a Bachelor's Degree in a college or university. BENCHMARK EXAMPLES: Medical Tech, Clinical Dietician, RN, Lab Manager, Accountant 2.

Current license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts .

Current Basic Life Support Certification.

Successful passage of CCHC's Pharmacology Exam.

Three to five years. BENCHMARK EXAMPLES: Human Resources Manager, Manager Patient Access, Nurse Manager
