Nurse Auditor - Contractor - Baltimore, MD

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, success-driven professional to join our team as a Nurse Auditor on an Independent Contractor bases in the Baltimore area..

The primary function of the Nurse Auditor is will work effectively with the director and team in identification of invalid coding and reimbursement errors and perform medical bill and chart reviews to identify invalid and excess charges. Will be responsible for meeting deadlines and daily requirements. Travel will be required to perform on-site bill/chart reviews.



Essential Job Functions

Review medical billing for proper compliance.

Become familiar with trends in healthcare and coding guidelines.

Work with Director to resolve provider audit appeals.

Perform tasks with minimal supervision.

Quality work and an on-time nature of completing tasks.

Respond effectively to assigned responsibilities.

Keep others informed as an effective communicator and promote productivity.

Ability to identify recoveries with 95% accuracy.



Basic knowledge of outpatient or inpatient coding and reimbursement issues.

Healthcare background in claims and auditing.

Prior experience in identification of inappropriate reimbursement and claims adjudication.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment.



Education/Experience

Possess current RN, with 1-5 years clinical experience. 1-3 years of code review experience. High school graduate with computer experience and a working knowledge of Excel. Prior experience in Healthcare Insurance auditing and claims reimbursement. Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g. Copier, FAX and Computer.
