NURSE PRACTITIONER - 40 DAY FLOAT (NSPG)

Description:SUMMARY The Nurse Practitioner will play a critical role in the screening, evaluation and surgical risk-assessment of pre-operative patients, as well as in the management of inpatients post-operatively. S/he will be the key point person, responsible not only for the provision of clinical care, but also for coordination and communication with Anesthesiologists, Surgeons, Hospitalists, Primary Care Providers and Specialists providing consultation on patients with complicated medical conditions and/or those presenting with increased risk. PRIMARY RESPONIBILITIES Obtaining comprehensive patient health history, including History and Physicals (H&Ps) and anesthesia assessments. Perform and complete physical exams. Analyze data and determine patient health status. Assess patient needs, developing plans and documenting plans in medical record. Teach patients pre-operatively and post-operatively to meet their individual needs. Demonstrate sound clinical judgment/decision making in a rapidly changing environment. Collaborate with the medical staff, patient, family/significant other, and others working toward effective pre-operative assessment completion and post-operative progression toward outcomes and discharge plan, ensuring efficient use of resources. Maintains competency in: Technical Skills, Medication Administration, and Documentation. Completes mandatory educational requirements within time allotted.Seeking highly seasoned, independent NP interested in supporting primary care covering long term vacancies in offices. Small geographic coverage area. May mature to permanent placement in single site.Qualifications:SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements a plus, and possess excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills. EDUCATION REQUIRED Require Masters degree from an accredited Nursing Degree Program. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS and/or REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED. Require a current state license as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Mass.
