Froedtert Hospital is hiring graduate nurses for a variety of our patient care units. This is the place where incredible things happen every day. To ensure a successful start to your nursing career, you will participate in a central RN orientation program which is 12 weeks long. Once you complete the RN orientation you will also be required to participate in a 12 month Nurse Residency program, which will provide you with many additional educational opportunities.
As an RN you are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of primary patients according to Froedtert Hospital's professional practice model. Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of a minimum of 2 years education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin. BSN preferred. Interpersonal skills necessary to instruct and comfort patients and their families and maintain effective contacts with a variety of hospital personnel.

UNIT DESCRIPTIONS
MEDICAL/SURGICAL
2NT - Trauma, Plastics, ENT and Oral Surgery post-op patients. Fast paced surgical unit that specializes in multiple trauma, digit replantation and breast reconstruction. Telemetry.
3NW - Cardiology/Cardiac Surgery/Surgery. Initiates and monitors critical cardiac drips/meds, external/internal pacers, 12 lead EKG, LVAD (heartmate), pulls arterial/venous sheaths, pre and post cardiac procedures and surgeries, Aquaphoreses for CHF patients. Part of the Cardiovascular Center. Collaborative working relationships with MCW staff / Froedtert Medical staff.
3SW - Medicine, Surgical and Telemetry.
3NT - Surgical/Telemetry. 3NT is a 32 bed unit that cares for pre and post-surgical patients. It is a floor that specializes in abdominal, cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries. It provides an excellent learning opportunity for multiple types of drains and dressing changes.
4SE - Solid Organ Transplant. Nephrology, Nephrology/Transplant, and Transplant (Kidney, Kidney/Pancreas, Liver and Lung). Telemetry.
4SW - Internal Medicine Unit. Internal medicine with focus on patients with pulmonary diagnosis, including Pneumonia, COPD, Asthma, Pulmonary HTN and DVT. Structure includes multi-disciplinary rounding, Hospitalist Model, Nurse Residency Program, and unit shared governance.
4PV - Surgical/Urology, GYN, GYN-Oncology and Telemetry.
5SE - Spinal Cord Injury Center (SCIC). Acute Care and Rehab. Individuals with spine and spinal cord injury (paraplegics and quadriplegics) and elective spine surgical patients.
5NE - Orthopedics. Trauma, joint, sports medicine, spine, oncology, foot and hand. Dedicated unit based physical therapist.
4NT - Neoplastic Diseases and related disorders. Treat Hematologic Malignancies, Solid Tumors, Autoimmune Disease and other Rheumatologic Disorders. Nurses work with a Multidisciplinary Neoplastic Diseases and Related Disorders Team.
4NT - Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT). ACLS, Critical Care and Chemotherapy certified. (Staff members will receive these certifications while on the unit).
INTERNAL MEDICINE
4NW - Medicine/Palliative/Intermediate Care. Med Team 3 A/B. Palliative, Hospice, Sickle Cell and Cardiology. Newly developed Internal Medicine Core Curriculum for nursing. New Physician/RN rounding structure. Hospitalist model.
4NE - Medicine: GI, Cystic Fibroses, Diabetes and Nephrology. Medical with an Endocrine focus.
NEURO
5SW - Neuro Rehab and General Rehab. Patients admitted with Brain Injury, Stroke and Ortho injuries for rehabilitation. NIH Stroke Scale. Holds a specialty accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehab Facilities (CARF) as Brain Injury Rehab Program.
5NT - Neurology. Neurology, Stroke, Intractable Epilepsy, 24 hr video - EEG. Southeast Wisconsin's premier Stroke Center.
5NW - Neurosurgery. Neurosurgical floor, with overflow variety. Telemetry.
SCHEDULING
Our primary scheduling pattern for nursing positions is on the 7/70 schedule. Shift options for the 7/70 schedule include:
First (0700 - 1730)
Second (1230 - 2300)
Third (2145 - 0745)
Rotating (Rotating between all three)
