Currently, Wesley Spectrum is seeking a highly motivated Milieu Therapist to participate in the development and the implementation of the treatment plan and behavior support plan and provide support for academic activities for clients in the partial hospitalization program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To participate, with the mental health therapist, in the development and revision
of the treatment plan for each client.
2. To insure the implementation of therapeutic interventions as guided by the treatment plan in the classroom milieu.
3. To participate in providing therapeutic group interventions under the direction of the mental health therapist.
4. To communicate with the mental health therapist, regarding the needs and progress of each client and effectiveness of interventions.
5. To participate as a member of the treatment team, providing therapeutic input to educational staff.
6. To document treatment progress through daily milieu notes and other required paperwork.
7. To attend Family/Agency/Therapeutic meetings as the professional who observes the child in the milieu.
8. To participate with the team in the implementation of the Wesley Spectrum Highland Services milieu philosophy.
9. To participate in the development of behavior intervention plans.
10. To perform daily procedural duties such as scanning, bus duty, etc. as assigned.
11. To attend and participate in unit and program activities (staff meetings, Open House, unit meetings, graduation).
12. To maintain consistent attendance as a demonstration of commitment to the safety and welfare of the program.
13. To participate actively in one’s professional growth, development and appraisal program.
14. To participate and collaborate with teammates in the implementation of the WSHS milieu philosophy.
15. To utilize therapeutic interventions techniques with children as prescribed by TCI training and the child’s behavior support plan and crisis plans.
16. To assist children in activities of daily living; i.e., grooming, hygiene, toileting, feeding, etc.
17. To demonstrate the Wesley Spectrum Highland Services mission and values through
performance of job duties and responsibilities.

The position regularly requires the employee to stand, walk and sit. Written and verbal communication is required. The position requires visual supervision of children. The employee will be required to intervene in the safe physical management of children and adolescents according to the approved crisis intervention program provided to all Wesley employees.

The primary work environment is indoors. The noise level will be moderate. Outdoor supervision of children and travel to other sites will occur on an occasional basis. There is risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens. The employee will be expected to follow agency guidelines to reduce the risk of such exposure.
Travel to other sites and the Trinity Satellite Program will be expected occasionally.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or a related field or five years of experience working directly with children and adolescents diagnosed with behavioral health disorders.
