Cedars-Sinai Outpatient Cancer Center at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute is seeking a:
Medical Records Technician
The successful candidate will be relied on to provide and maintain accurate medical records by retrieving and retaining confidential patient medical information generated throughout the center. Key functions will include retrieving medical records from the clinic areas and doctors’ offices for charts needed for next day appointments; sorting, dating and writing medical record numbers on all incoming loose reports for filing; and fielding incoming phone calls. This position will also be relied on to photocopy medical information, participate in the continual assessment of operations to identify areas for process improvement and interact with outside transcription services to facilitate transcribing, printing and distributing of dictated reports. Other duties will include maintaining and managing onsite and offsite storage of medical records.
This position requires a candidate possessing a high school diploma (or GED), clerical or office experience and a good working knowledge of medical record principles. Medical records department experience is preferred. We are in search of an excellent communicator able to effectively prioritize tasks and utilize/maintain electronic chart tracking software. PC proficiency and a working knowledge of MS Windows and Office products is also mandatory.
