Medical Record Review Coordinator
Carolina Donor Services is the federally designated organ procurement organization serving 6.1 million people in 79 counties of North Carolina and Danville, Virginia. Our service area includes 102 hospitals, and four transplant centers that perform heart, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants.
Our team of dedicated professionals work diligently to increase the awareness of the need for organ and tissue donors and to deliver the most sensitive approach to organ and tissue donation. We perform public and professional education, as well as coordinate the entire organ and tissue donation process.
Carolina Donor Services has three main offices - Durham/Chapel Hill - Greenville and Winston-Salem.
We are seeking a Medical Record Review Coordinator for our Durham office.
Job Title: Medical Record Review Coordinator

Job Summary: The Medical Record Review Coordinator is responsible for conducting medical record reviews at hospitals within CDS’ designated service area and responsible for the accuracy of the medical record review database.
Primary Accountabilities:
Adheres to the general CDS standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team buildingFollows CDS policies and proceduresFollows departmental policies and proceduresContributes to the overall quality of the organization
Review donor potential and effectiveness of hospital operations through the Medical Record Review processConducts medical record reviews in all smaller hospitalsAssists Hospital Development Specialists in conducting Medical Record Reviews in larger donor hospitals when needed
Ensures accuracy of the Medical Record Review databaseResponsible for gathering, reviewing and entering Medical Record Review data into the databaseResponsible for checking the Medical Record Review data for accuracyPrepares and prints reports for use by the Hospital Development Specialists and the department
Provides support to the Hospital Development Specialist in the C and D hospitalsConducts informal visits/rounds in the C and D hospitalsConducts basic referral inservices
Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager of Hospital Services
Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, occasional lifting (up to twenty pounds), finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and visual acuity
Work Environment: normal office environment, normal hospital environment, extensive automobile travel within service area as needed
Education: High School diploma required, Associate degree preferred
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: not applicable
Skills and Qualifications: Experience in medical records and a strong working knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Excellent organizational/time management skills, the ability to read and understand medical records; demonstrated writing skills; excellent interpersonal communications skills; experience with work processing, spreadsheet and database software programs (e.g., MS Office, Word, Excel and Access); valid North Carolina Driver’s License and the ability to travel extensively to hospitals
