Medical Director / 627 Position Description:• Responsible for the overall quality and medical appropriateness of care provided to members;• Ensures that care provided meets and exceeds the standards for acceptable medical care and works to improve the provision of services throughout Vermont so that best practices are promulgated throughout the system of care;• Provides leadership, oversight and consultation to clinical staff;• Updates, disseminates and implements the medical record review process, and establishes clinical policies and procedures; • Consults physicians regarding disease and care management practices, treatment plans, care coordination, and clinical policies and procedures;• Establishes strong interpersonal relationships with the provider community through consultation, teaching and support; and• Fosters a positive rapport between the Management, health coaches and the provider community.EducationalRequirements:• Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO);• Board Certified; and• Valid, unrestricted license in the state of Vermont.Minimum Qualifications:• Minimum of 5 years clinical experience (post residency) in the treatment of medical disorders;• Demonstrated chronic care management experience; • Ability to recognize quality of care issues and to fully comprehend utilization and quality management statistical data; and• Knowledge of disciplines related to physical healthcare, including substance abuse, developmental disabilities, early intervention and mental health disorders.
