We have several clinical offices in San Diego County. The Medical Collection Specialist will be working at the Administrative Office in Mission Valley.

Duties include:- Reviewing account balances >30 days old - Submitting corrected claims and re-billing if necessary - Aggressively pursuing payments >60 days past due - Submitting appeals for denied or incorrectly paid charges - Performing patient financial counseling - Generating patient statements - Setting up patient payment agreements - Following-up on scheduled payments - Referring accounts for outside collections if necessary

Requirements:

Candidates must have a clear credit history and will be required to authorize a credit check.

Work Experience:- 3 years of prior medical claims and insurance payment processing, insurance eligibility/benefits verification, appeals for denials and authorization/utilization review experience preferred - Knowledge of medical billing and insurance plans. - Ability to perform arithmetic calculations associated with payments from patients or insurance companies, including co-payments, coinsurance, and deductibles - Skill in communicating professionally (in person, in writing, or on the phone) with insurance companies, physicians, medical group representatives, and other staff - Ability to speak clearly and concisely, read and understand, and follow oral and written instruction - Ability to utilize medical billing software and financial ledgers - Ability to appeal charges that have been denied

 

Education:- High School Diploma or GED - Additional classes and training in medical billing desired
