Medical Billing Supervisor

We are looking for a Billing Supervisor (exp. with medical/hospital) on full-time basis. 

Primary Duties *:

 

· With supervision from the Billing and Data Entry Manager, coordinate the running and work flow of the San Jose billing office. Communicating staff and clinic billing problems to the Manager.

· Supervise all billing through the affiliate Practice Management system and/or affiliate claim editor systems for the clinics assigned to the San Jose billing office (e.g. MediCal, FPACT, CHDP, Medicare, Private insurance and appropriate MediCal managed care plans).

· Supervise all denial and rebilling of claims for the assigned San Jose clinics, assuring that staff are knowledgeable and timely in their work.

· In cooperation with the Billing Manager, supervise the development of the clinic billing & training programs for the affiliate. Implement in clinics as needed or instructed. Training will include information on MediCal, FPACT, CHDP, private insurance; MediCal managed care programs, and coding and reimbursement issues.

· Ensure through training programs that all clinic data entry and CDS entry personnel are knowledgeable of each PPMM billing program.

· Supervise the continued development and implementation of training modules for clinic and billing staff regarding registration and billing functions of the affiliate Practice Management computer system.

· Supervise the continued development and implementation of clinic registration and CDS entry training programs. This includes standardized lists of client questions for front desk personnel; insurance, income, family size information obtained; data entry of registration information; facilitate improvement of clinic coding through individual and group consultation.

· Assist in training new billing and clinic front desk &/or CDS entry personnel, as well as clinic managers.

 

 

Secondary Duties *:

 

· Participate in tracking, evaluating and analyzing all payer denials and/or errors for each clinic. Provide specific clinic information and training to reduce denials in all areas.

· Assist IT department with networking and computer or editor issues. Act as liaison between IT department and clinics when problems arise with either hardware or software. Point person for the affiliate Practice Management system and new clinic staff.

· As needed input into affiliate Practice Management system all client data source documents originating from client visits.

· Notify Manager of discrepancies or unusual occurrences in daily billing or computer software/hardware.

· Backup to Billing Manager when needed to complete tasks or other duties.

· Special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Ability to perform the above duties. A typical means of acquiring these abilities would be:

 

· B.A./B.S. preferred

 

· Ten years experience in automated medical office billing and supervision, or related experience

 

· Detail oriented

 

· Computer oriented – should have 5 years of database application experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Ability to understand and apply database applications for a Practice Management system (i.e. changes that would effect the database). Knowledgeable in database technical conversations to be able to work with venders to change or upgrade systems. Be able to communicate issues about the database to manager and staff. Excellent organizational and decision make skills. Ability to initiate work and set priorities independently. Ability to relate well to a broad variety of people. Ability to evaluate staff and workloads to communicate changes to manager. Knowledgeable about HR issues related to staff performance and disciplinary action. Ability to operate with accuracy a 10-key calculator or computer keyboard by touch. Ability to organize and maintain files and records. Ability to work independently and to plan and organize work effectively. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. Ability to use Word and Excel. Thorough knowledge of affiliate payor sources, billing requirements and timelines is required. The ability to enter data into a Practice Management systems in both a timely and accurate manner. Willing and able to travel throughout affiliate areas. Reliable transportation: valid state driver’s license and necessary proof of automobile insurance.
