Serving San Diego's inland North County communities for more than 50 years, PPH is a family of outstanding healthcare facilities that cover an area of more than 800-square miles. As the largest hospital district in Southern California, we are also one of the most diverse. From our state-of-the-art Cardiac Care and Rehabilitation Facilities and a busy Trauma center to Home Healthcare, we deliver a full spectrum of health services to meet the needs of every member in our community.
We promote a philosophy that encourages growth and satisfaction. We provide a work environment that is open and empowering, where you can experience a wide range of clinical, educational, and management opportunities. And we support a healthy balance between your personal and professional lives.
The Coding Services Manager has the overall responsibility for the efficiency and effectiveness of all coding / abstracting / grouping processes for both Inpatient and Outpatient coding services. Serve as a key participant in the Revenue Cycle at PPH. Responsible for providing departmental guidance and leadership to Coding Team Leads and staff with coder/abstractor training, compliance audits, regulatory guidance, daily work distribution, and monitoring of accounts receivable issues related to coding. Work closely with members of the medical staff to ensure documentation is complete for accurate and timely coding of records.
Direct oversight for coding of diagnoses and procedures that are performed for inpatient, outpatient and Emergency Department encounters. Responsible to ensure that the departmental performance objectives are attained, to include capturing co-morbidities and complications, procedure code modifiers, appropriate sequencing, assigning DRG's, and APR-DRG's and MS-DRG’s. Responsible to ensure that systems, processes and reports are optimized so that data specific to each visit is accurately abstracted for the revenue cycle, research, OSHPD, data comparison studies, and medical record reviews. In addition to coding/abstracting and grouping, also assists with the Hospital Revenue Cycle process by overseeing the charge capture process for patients seen in the Emergency Department and by proactively identifying inefficient upstream processes and systems that have a detrimental effect on DNFB.
Provides daily leadership for both in-house and outsourced departmental personnel and will assist in recruiting, training and personnel development within the department. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows PPH rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, values, and quality commitment of PPH.
