MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENTTo provide Senior Management with a deep understanding of our markets, competitive landscape and customer segments where we compete in order to allow Senior Management to capitalize on opportunities and minimize risks identified in pursuit of the organization's business objectives. To maximize data integrity and improve performance reporting and business analysis across all businesses and Managed Markets. PURPOSE OF THE ROLEThe Business Analyst will be responsible for providing integrated business analysis to the Commercial Planning && Operations and TA management teams and will have significant responsibilities related to the development of product and statistical forecast models MAIN INTERFACESVP Marketing Endocrinology, VP Marketing Neurology, VP Corporate Operational Support and Process Innovation, Executive Director - Finance, Executive Director - Commercial Planning && Operations, Senior Director Business Analysis and Data Warehouse, Director Business Intelligence, TA Marketing and Sales Management, EXTERNALLY: Third Party data vendors DETAILED TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESBusiness Analysis-Provide clear, thorough and consistent analysis regarding:Market trendsProduct performanceMarket opportunities andPotential risks-Verbally communicate results of analysis via attendance at recurring meetings (e.g. Sales Estimate meetings) and ad hoc meetings with Commercial Planning && Operations, TA and Finance management teams-Work with TA to integrate analysis into annual planning including Situational Analysis and TA Strategic Plans.-Work cross functionally with the TAs, CPO Organization, Managed Markets, Finance and Supply Chain to gain a complete and thorough understanding of all Serono's products and markets.-Responsible for analyzing, correlating and integrating all available data sources in order to understand, assess and monitor market changesSecondary market auditsPrimary market researchCompetitive intelligenceSales Analytics dataFinancial dataSupply chain dataManaged Markets data-Develop new business analysis reports, particularly for areas where available data is unreliable and/or inconsistent. Demanding Forecasting-Work closely with Senior Manager, Business Analysis and Forecasting on developing and maintaining robust quantitative statistical forecast models based on historic time-series, patient models and causal methods.· Develop and implement methodologies and criteria for utilizing various data (syndicated demand, trade, CRM, etc.) to improve the predictive value of forecast models· Collaborate with Business Intelligence to develop and implement methodologies and criteria for using primary and secondary market research data as inputs to the forecast and market event models-Participate in the TAs' demand forecast consensus meetings and update the statistical models to include inputs from sales and marketing
EDUCATION LEVEL AND LANGUAGES REQUIRED · MBA highly preferred· English required. PROFESSIONAL SKILLS && EXPERIENCE (years experience minimally necessary for success in role) 3+ years experience in business analysis or forecastingBiotech/pharmaceutical, high-tech industry or investment banking experience preferred PERSONAL SKILLS && COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, abilities, traits) · Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and oral)· Strong interpersonal skills· Ability to influence others in a tactful and well thought-out manner with supporting information and logic· Ability to work constructively within a team environment· Broad business understanding and ability to work cross functionally· Strong ability to analyze unrelated and sometimes incomplete data sets· Ability to apply principles of logic and critical thinking to a wide range of complex business issues· Thorough understanding of various time-series and patient based forecasting techniques· Ability to build complex financial models· Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment· Excellent organizational skills and the ability to balance several on-going projects simultaneously· Outstanding Excel and Powerpoint skills
