BSL offers its residents access to a full continuum of services - independent living, assisted living, retirement centers/continuing care retirement communities (CCRC) and management services. Immediate Opening: Maintenance Director Job Type: Full Time Location: Crystal Bay Senior Living - 2400 Crystal Cove Destin, FL 32550Location Web Address: http://www.brookdaleliving.com/crystal-bay.aspx Contact: Carol ColettaFax: 850-267-1600E-mail: CColetta@BrookdaleLiving.com SUMMARY: Manages the associates responsible for the general operating maintenance and repair of the residence and it's physical plant to maintain proper orientation of the residence.  This is a hands-on position that requires problem solving capabilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:1.  Supervise the residence maintenance, housekeeping and laundry  staff, to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, resolving disciplinary issues and firing. This is the primary function of this position and requires at least fifty-one percent of the employee's time on a monthly basis.

2.  Direct workers engaged in the maintenance and upkeep of the interior and exterior of the residence.  Inspect completed work for conformance to standards and policies.

3.  Oversee scheduled maintenance on: H.V.A.C., elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.

4.  Coordinate maintenance requests by residents for items needing repair in their rooms, including repairing plumbing, electrical, heating and replacing light bulbs.

5.  Oversee repairs and maintenance of vacated rooms in a timely manner. This includes painting and cleaning carpets.

6.  Maintain positive communication with local fire marshal, building inspector, state elevator inspector, and any other jurisdictions governing the residence.

7.  Assure that walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in the common areas of the residence are properly maintained.We seek the following qualifications:  * Ability to professionally represent Brookdale Senior Living* HVAC Certification preferred* Must have a working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, apartment turns, and grounds maintenance. * Excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational and time management skills required.* Experience in maintenance or environmental services. * Commercial kitchen equipment/appliance repair knowledge a plus! * Enjoy working with older adults
