As a Licensing Specialist, you will be relied on to oversee the regulatory process, which includes handling licensure responsibilities and managing government reimbursement programs as they apply to assisted living.   Responsibilities: - Prepare and submit community operating license applications and other required documents/information to state licensing agencies. - Coordinate completion of applications and other required documents/information to obtain or maintain Medicaid and/or third party contracts for service provision. - Administer and maintain all state licensure applications, including initial, renewal, change of ownership, Medicaid, and certificates of need determinations. - Analyze and research law sources, such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, case law, treaties, constitutions, legal codes and regulations. - Monitor proposed regulations or changes to regulations, as well as state-specific process for initial renewal. - Respond to state legal action by analyzing Emeritus' position, propose next steps, and implement remedy with state agency and internal departments. - Research and evaluate various law sources and advise internal/external clients on licensing/regulatory issues for acquisition/expansion and new development. - Analyze and develop agreements and contracts to ensure compliance; propose and implement changes when necessary. - Recommend whether participation in a particular state's reimbursement program makes sound business sense. - Initiate language that best articulates a proposed transaction to a licensing agency so that application is approved. - Manage and maintain four regulatory databases. - Handle other projects as assigned. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree is preferred. - Experience completing government-required applications/documents and communicating with government agencies. - Proficiency interfacing with multi-state companies, hospitality and healthcare industry companies or senior-related associations. - Experience in preparing various spreadsheets. - Ability to stay organized and multitask to meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment. - Ability to prioritize, analyze, meet deadlines and pay close attention to detail. -  Must work both independently and with a team. - Effective written and verbal communication skills. - Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products. - Must pass a criminal background check.
