Position Title: Therapists
Location: Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River & Okeechobee
Hours: Monday through Friday
FLSA: Non-Exempt

We have both part-time and full-time opportunities for qualified candidates to join our growing organization as Master’s Level Therapists and Licensed Therapists.
The responsibilities of this position are as follows:
Screening: Therapists will be proficient in being able to determine if a client is appropriate and eligible for admission to the Suncoast programs. Therapists adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies governing mental health services while performing the screening function.
Intake: Therapists will be proficient in performing administrative and assessment procedures for admitting a client into the program. Therapists will ensure that signed consents are obtained when soliciting from or providing information to outside sources to protect confidentiality and rights.
Orientations: Therapists will be responsible for ensuring that the clinical staff properly present information to the client/family on the following topics: general nature and goals of the program and how they relate to client care; rules of governing client conduct and infractions that can lead to discharge from the program; the hours during which services are available; treatment costs, if any, and the client’s obligations and rights.
Assessment: Therapists will be proficient in being able to correctly identify and evaluate an individual’s strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences for the development of a treatment plan. Therapists will possess the appropriate interview techniques to gather relevant history from the client/family including, but not limited to, mental health issues, using appropriate interview techniques.
Treatment Planning: Therapists will be proficient in properly performing the following essential functions of treatment planning: to explain assessment results to a client in an understandable manner; to identify concerns needing resolution; to formulate agreed upon and achievable long-term goals and short-term objectives based on the client’s strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences; and to identify the treatment methods and resources to be utilized as appropriate for the individual client.
Counseling: Therapists will be expected to be proficient in the counseling process (individual, family, and group) and knowledgeable of the following counseling skills: selecting the counseling theory(ies) that apply(ies); applying technique(s) to assist the client/family in exploring problems and ramifications; applying technique(s) to assist the client/family in examining the client’s behavior, attitudes, and feelings; individualize counseling in accordance with cultural, gender, and lifestyle differences; interacting with the client/family in an appropriate therapeutic manner; eliciting solutions and decisions from the client/family; and implementing the treatment plan.
Report and Record Keeping: Therapists will be responsible for ensuring that they correctly chart the results of the assessment and treatment plan, write reports, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other related data. Therapists will also be responsible for ensuring that accurate and timely billing is submitted to their supervisor on a weekly basis.
Discharge Planning: Therapists will be responsible for properly formulating with the client/family transition planning including developing agreed upon and achievable discharge criteria. Therapists will also use transition planning activities that ensure a smooth transition when a client is transferred to another level of care or is discharged from the program.
Consultation with Other Professionals in Regard to Client Treatment/Services: Therapists will be responsible for communication with in-house staff or outside professionals to assure comprehensive, quality care for the client. During the consultation process, therapists will be able to: recognize issues are beyond their base of knowledge and/or skill; consult with appropriate resources to ensure the provision of effective treatment services; adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies governing the disclosure of client-identifying data; and explain the rationale for the consultation to the client/family, if appropriate.
Education: Master’s degree in Behavioral Science or related field. Special Need for LMHC,
LMFT, or LCSW, licensed by State of Florida.
Experience: One (1) year post-Master’s degree experience in clinical atmosphere, preferably in
mental health.
Special: Some local travel may be required. Schedules are subject to change, depending on
client needs. Licensed positions are based at schools in St. Lucie County.
