Legal Reimbursement AssistantMedStar HealthWashington, DC 20010For immediate consideration, please apply on-line at www.medstarhealth.org  MedStar Health has a great opportunity for an individual interested in supporting our legal team.   The Legal Reimbursement Assistant provides administrative and specialized collection assistance in support of the Legal Reimbursement area. Specifically, collaborates with representatives from the Patient Accounts Department to resolve collection accounts and provide information to attorneys and insurance carriers; Reviews medical records and liability information;  Includes investigating and follow up of motor vehicle accident and denied claims; maintaining status reports and claims assigned through collector's workstation; handling patient, attorney and title insurance company inquiries and providing assistance as necessary to the patient accounting departments; filing hospital liens, estate claims and bankruptcy proof of claims.   Ideal candidate must possess strong leadership qualities, be self-motivated and have take charge attitude.  Qualified candidates must have legal and patient accounting experience as it relates to billing HMOs, PPOs and commercial insurance companies to obtain payments from the result of worker's compensation, motor vehicle accidents and appeals.  Must have knowledge of DC hospital lien law and personal injury/medpay laws. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Bachelor's degree and/or a certificate as a Legal Assistant are preferred.
