Lab Manager - Blood Bank The Lab Manager, Blood Bank supervises, plans, organizes, and delineates duties and responsibilities of personnel within the Blood Bank Department under the direction and in cooperation with the Director. Manages workload, procedural developments, quality control, instrument maintenance, and budgets. Establishes goals and objectives for the department that are compatible with providing the highest quality of health care possible as outlined in the philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy.The qualified applicant will have a Baccalaureate degree, MT (ASCP) with SBB strongly preferred. Four (4) years experience in a clinical laboratory with one year management experience required. Possesses above average expertise in theoretical and technical skills relevant to the laboratories. Has the ability to make sound managerial decisions with regard to staffing, scheduling, procedural developments, and determining the reliability of test results and assigning priorities to the workload and staffing. Can effectively communicate not only with the department employees, but also with other hospital employees and physicians. Ability to work closely with other hospital departments and medical staff. Maintains competency even under stressful conditions. Demonstrates knowledge and skill appropriate for an acute care facility dealing primarily with adults ages eighteen to sixty-five and geriatric patients over the age of sixty-five.
