Location: San Diego, CA - HillcrestDepartment: Facilities EngineeringPayroll Title: ElectricianPositions: 1Filing Deadline: 09/02/08One (100%) day shift career position with benefits that start on date of hire!Duties and Responsibilities:-Under supervision performs skilled journeymanelectrician tasks; maintain, repair, and install electrical systems,equipment and components such as: motors and motor controllers,lighting systems, control devices, switches and cables; transformers,lightening arresters and conductors.-Test, troubleshoot and locateelectrical malfunctions using appropriate test instruments. -Coordinateservices with Hospital employees and contractors. -Job standards are tobe performed at the EXPERT level.*Special Conditions of Employment*-Ability to work in morgues/gross anatomy/pathological laboratories where human/animal bodies or parts thereof may be exposed to view of the worker.-May be required to work in the vicinity of labs contaminated with biohazards radioactive substances.-Required to work emergency call back and varied shift hours as necessary.-Must maintain a valid California Drivers License to operate UC vehicles and travel to UCSD facilities.-Must be able to work at heights; in confined spaces and lift motors.-Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position.Qualifications:-Previous directly related experience as a skilled journeyman in all electrical phases, preferably for a large medical facility or institution.-Must have a strong knowledge of and experience with tools, equipment and products of the trade.-Must possess excellent customer service skills.*Preferred: Healthcare construction experience*
