Internal Medicine Physician

POSITION:  Immediate Full-time opening for an Internal Medicine Physician at Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, AL.

 

 

FORMAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  Completion of a residency or fellowship in internal medicine acceptable to the Surgeon General, HQ USAF, is mandatory; board certified in Internal Medicine; employed in the practice of Internal Medicine or in training for 24 of the last 36 months.

 

LICENSE/REGISTRATION:  A grant of permission by an official agency of the District of Columbia, a state, commonwealth, or territory of the United States to provide care independently as a health care professional.  Licenses must be current and unrestricted.

 

SALARY/BENEFITS:  Extremely Competitive.  Two weeks paid-time-off (PTO), 10 paid Holidays, Annual Cost of Living Adjustment and Annual Performance Bonus.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES: 

See between 22 and 30 patients per day; facilitate patient access to medical care by appropriate referrals to other health care providers in accordance with Military Treatment Facility (MTF) policies and regulations, care to include routine general internal medicine care for acute and chronic patient conditions; become the primary care manager for a panel of patients; answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff, refilling prescriptions, providing primary and secondary preventative maintenance care, all assignments to be made by the internal medicine chief; provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency problems as they occur; adequately diagnose and treat diseases and injuries, including, but not limited to cardiovascular, respiratory, and gastrointestinal diseases, endocrinology, rheumatology, renal, infectious diseases, and neurology; able to perform electrocardiogram interpretations, flexible sigmoidoscopy, graded exercise treadmill testing, central line placement, arterial line placement, arterial line placement, intubations and airway management, hemodynamic invasive monitoring, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and CPR; prepare all records and reports as may be required; take part in quality assurance program requirements; participate in education activities involving the Internal Medicine residents as needed, to include lectures, supervision, and mentoring. Provide on-call duty one week out of every six weeks.
