Phoenix Childrens Hospital is the only specialty childrens hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the states largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. Currently a 299 bed facility, new construction plans were unveiled in October 2006 that include the building of two new patient bed towers and expansion in bed capacity and other key programs and services over the course of the next several years. Primary Purpose: This position is responsible for the collection activity for an assigned segment of the Accounts Receivable. Responsible to perform collection duties in accordance with established Federal and State regulations. Work Environment: Activities are performed on an environmentally controlled unit subject to long periods of sitting and data entry; frequently required to bend, lift, push and pull objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer to verify accuracy and readability of information/reports and ability to communicate verbally in English by speaking, hearing, seeing, reading and writing are necessary to perform essential functions. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 1. Two years of collection activity and reduction in A/R in a healthcare setting. 2. Knowledge of accounts receivable billing laws and regulations, third party and managed care payor billing requirements, registration, verification, centralized computer systems.3. Medical Terminology and an understanding of HIPPA privacy laws.4. Strong oral and written English skills5. High school diploma or GED6. Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding.
