IT Operating Systems Engineer/Analyst - Plymouth, MN

Comprised of the Application Services Group, Enterprise Shared Services Group and the IT Business Services Group, UnitedHealth Group IT has over 7,000 internal and external resources across the globe, and offices in California, Connecticut, Minnesota, New Jersey, South Carolina and Wisconsin.   Primary Responsibilities: This function reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale computer system. Evaluate system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. This function provides expertise in software systems programming, operating software applications, consults on complex projects/existing applications, and overall operating systems. Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed. Work with less structured, more complex issues. Serve as a resource to others.  Qualifications: 4 - 6 years demonstrated Unix experience is required, as is a solid background with IBM/AIX/ VLPAR is preferred but not required.  Must have any experience with AIX 5.3 required. Proficiency with Veritas Cluster Manager is preferred. Experience with remote disaster recovery is preferred. Experience with VMS is preferred. Experience with HPUX is preferred. Solve moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analyses. Work with minimal guidance; seek guidance on only the most complex tasks. Translate concepts into practice. Provide explanations and information to others on difficult issues. Coach, provide feedback, and guide others. Act as a resource for others with less experience. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
