The ICP provides surveillance, prevention, and control of infection throughout the facility as directed by the Infection Control Committee. Ensures compliance with JCAHO standards and federal, state and county regulations as related to Infection Control and provides education, and consultation to all staff on infection control issues and is a liaison to other departments.

Good organizational and written and verbal communication skills are required. Ability to travel between Inova facilities. Familiarity with JCAHO standards, clinical research and data analysis are important. Basic computer skills/knowledge required.
Education Requirements

Bachelor degree in Nursing or Medical Microbiology/Epidemiology or related science with two years acute care experience. Master's preferred. Certification in Infection Control required within 30 months following employment.
