Human Resource Benefits Manager
ResponsibilitiesManage Supplemental Benefits and 401k programs for employees.Administer and monitor employee leave benefits and their use: FMLA, disability accommodation for ADA, personal leaves of absence. Administer benefits including: 401k, 457, 529, short and long-term disability, life insurance, supplemental insurance programs, etc. Process loan applications for 401k programs Ensure administration of benefits is compliant with government regulations, and internal policiesRespond to inquires from employees and management regarding information on benefits and leaves. Liaison with outside vendors. i.e. Insurance Companies, and Retirement Plan representatives. Present employee welfare benefits to new employees during orientation Coordinate training and enrollment process. Periodically review and revise welfare benefit forms.Perform special projects and assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or the equivalent experience; plus Minimum five (5) years Human Resources experience to include policy and procedure development and interpretation, labor law – FMLA, ADA, and employee benefits – 401k, to include two (2) years practical experience supervising professional staff. Intermediate skill level in MS Word and Excel required; knowledge of HR Information Systems.Working knowledge of Federal and State labor laws and regulations regarding FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc. Knowledge of IRS regulations regarding retirement funds including 401k, 457 plans, and 529 plans. Ability to interact with internal and external professionals, e.g. management, Insurance Company representatives, etc. Experience developing, interpreting, and implementing policy and procedures. Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships, maintaining the confidentiality of the position in all dealings. Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. HR experience in a Union environment preferred.
