Histology Lab Supervisor

This is a full time position with working hours of 4am to 12:30pm. There is also a Histology Technician II position (169010SB) and Histology Technician I (166590SB). JOB SUMMARY: Possesses and main stains by educational enhancement a knowledge which enables him/her to assist in the planning, organizing, and delineating of the activities of all employees within the histology section of the Department of Pathology. Activities are coordinated to assure maximum utilization of time, energy, and resources. Assures high quality patient care by assisting in monitoring the work to meet and improve services offered. Leadership will be of the quality and nature that will encourage all employees under his/her supervision to perform to the best of their abilities and to develop to their fullest potential. Duties will be discharged professionally under the direction of the Manager and in support of the objectives of the Department of Pathology and Baylor College of Medicine. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: *Must be able to perform all duties and tests required of a certified histotechnologist, such as logging, processing, embedding, staining, sign out, and troubleshooting equipments. *Must be able to perform frozen section and special stains. *Assists the manager in formulating, administering, and analyzing goals and objectives for the histology laboratory. *Takes a pro-active view and anticipates change and the need for action and communicates such to the Manager. *Assists in the management of supply inventory. *Assists in effectively handling managerial situations including planning, control, problem solving, and communication. *Assures that monthly research case charges are billed to the appropriate charges source and monthly quality control is performed and documented.
