Cambridge Health Alliance is a nationally recognized, award-winning health care system that serves the residents of Cambridge, Somerville and Boston's Metro-North region. It is comprised of The Cambridge Hospital, Somerville Hospital, Whidden Memorial Hospital, the Cambridge Public Health Department, more than 20 primary care practices and Network Health - a statewide managed Medicaid health plan. Histotechnician HT(ASCP)Cambridge HospitalFull-time, 40hpwThe Histotechnician in this position needs to have experience in sectioning, fixation, embedding, microtomy, processing and staining.Duties and responsibilities include:* performing and evaluating Quality Control* participating in proficiency testing* troubleshooting basic instrument problems* assisting pathology assistant or pathologists in the cutting room* using a Cryostat for frozen sections* working knowledge of Immunohistochemistry (IHC)* participating in department meetings and team efforts to analyze workflow processes and the performance of QI audits 1. Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program OR 2. An Associates degree or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry AND one year full time acceptable experience in histopathology within the last 10 years under the supervision of a pathologist.3.
