Engineer I Rapid Prototype

As a member of the Ready to Serve Engineering team, the Engineer is responsible for engineering tasks supporting project requests across the spectrum of product support, product development, and technology platform discovery. The incumbent will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment within the Applied Science and Technology segment of the Device Center of Excellence. Incumbent will be expected to contribute to projects related to device project teams and disposable device products. The primary responsibilities of this role each account for 5% or more of the work. The incumbent will perform other duties assigned. Performs routine engineering assignments or related tasks that are typically a focused portion of larger projects. With minimal supervision, provide Rapid Prototyping (RP) support for Baxter medical device development, including build set up and post-build processing. Develop experience and familiarization with the engineering staff, methods, techniques, theories, Corporate and division SOP's, policies and projects. Ability to solve routine design and engineering tasks with some assistance. Able to solve problems with periodic monitoring. Work closely with Baxter's Industrial Design, Engineering and Prototyping functions to develop product prototypes. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Technical problem solving and communication skills. Must have a working knowledge and understanding of the safety issues related to lasers. Knowledge of the basic principles in engineering discipline. Ability to discuss normally encountered technical or project management issues, both verbally and in written form. Ability to work as a collaborative team member. BS Engineering (Manufacturing, Biomedical, Mechanical, or Chemical) or related field with 0-1 year experience (solid internship experience will be considered). Experience in medical product development, manufacturing, or medical grade materials a plus. Knowledge of current Good Documentation Practice (cGDP), good Laboratory Practice (cGLP), and Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) would be an asset, but can be developed. Working knowledge of finishing, painting and completing mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering required parts would be an asset.
