Endocrine Triage RN / 08-15927

Position Description:

The endocrine triage nurse is responsible for answering the daily calls to our outpatient clinic for prescription refills and patient related issues. The nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for this population of patients with minimal guidance. The Division of Endocrinology provides comprehensive evaluation and management of all endocrine problems in infants, children and adolescents in the following areas:Thyroid Adrenal Pituitary Calcium Sexual maturation

Qualifications:

RN; License to practice professional nursing in Pennsylvania.Graduation from an NLN accredited school of nursing or college.At least 3-5 years prior pediatric nursing experience is necessary for this position. Phone triage experience preferred.Ability to assess caretakers level of comprehension and communicate on that level.Ability to provide nursing care for children with moderate to complex medical problems.Ability to convey over the telephone how to provide comprehensive nursing care with limited resources.Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English utilizing computer terminal.Interest and skills in patient education.Ability to effectively work within a team.Demonstrates excellent judgement in knowing clinical limitations; knows when to refer clinical situations for additional consideration.Demonstrates basic keyboarding and computer skills.Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
