We are searching for a creative, detail-oriented professional with strong computer user skills, curiosity about system underpinnings, and customer service skills to join our growing team. As an EMR (Electronic Medical Record) System Specialist reporting to the Manager of Operations, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the electronic medical record and practice management system used to coordinate provider and patient data as well as to run reports and provide information to support ongoing operations. The EMR system functions as the key system for call center representatives to book patient appointments, and document customer service issues. It also functions as a medical practice management system that interfaces with provider offices and their staff to document virtual clinic appointments. In addition, the system interfaces with UHG portals and patient portals for the entry of personal medical information. This role involves working with provider offices, patients and internal team members from operations and IT. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience while being a significant contributor. Primary ResponsibilitiesWorking as the EMR system Subject Matter Expert (SME) for internal and external resources. Involves learning and keeping apprised of the user interface, systems administration functions, as well as the operational impacts of changes. This individual is the business administrator of the system and will also work with the technical team to troubleshoot system issues. Contacting multiple providers and customers daily for small and large scale appointment schedule coordination Working with providers and clinic attendants to modify schedules and maintain schedule accuracy across multiple clinics Adding new users and providers to the system as well as controlling system access Creating, updating, and managing data within the EMR system to reflect current operations Coordinating all EMR system changes and updates with business and technical teams Developing, and running system reports Training others to operate and view modules within the EMR Reviewing system data for task completion, assignment and follow up Downloading and formatting information from vendors and providers Gathering information from others to develop custom reports Assisting with special projects as needed Qualifications: Required:2 or more years working experience with clinical operations systems, practice management systems, or customer service support systems is required 2 or more years of healthcare experience or clinic administration is required Assets:Must be self-directed and have sense of ownership of the system Must be comfortable with learning new software and becoming the internal subject matter expert for the tool, its operation and maintenance. This individual is the “go to” person for the business users and likes to determine how the system can be utilized to improve operational efficiencies. Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook Must enjoy developing rapport with patients and providers on a daily basis Possesses a flexible working attitude to accommodate procedure changes and system modifications Proactively learns about the business and applies knowledge to EMR system operation Previous super user application experience required Excellent time management and organizational skills required Customer service/call center experience is desired College degree preferred Previous EMR systems training. Previous new company start-up experience desired Prefer previous experience as a business systems administrator for a medical or customer service software product Flexible attitude required; this is a new business area within UHG and the system will change as it develops Must communicate effectively with others-this role requires skill and tact when talking with customers, providers, and internal operations and technical teams.Diversity creates a healthier atmosphere: equal opportunity employer M/F/D/V UnitedHealth Group is a drug-free workplace.
