Position Description:
We are currently seeking a clinical medical physicist for the position of Director of Physics to work at our Philadelphia, PA cancer center. This new, state-of-the-art center located in the suburbs of Philadelphia will open in early 2009. The candidate will join a team comprised of a radiation oncologist, a medical dosimetrist, three radiation therapists, and a nurse. The successful candidate will also serve as the center’s Radiation Safety Officer.

Facility and Equipment:
The new cancer center will be equipped with a Varian iX with enhanced isocenter accuracy, RapidArc, OBI, CBCT, Portal Vision (aS1000 with Portal Dosimetry Package), and IGRT couch top. The center will use ARIA for the EMR and record and verify system, and the Varian Eclipse for treatment planning. A full array of physics and dosimetry equipment will be available on-site. Additionally, the center will have a GE LightSpeed 16-slice, wide-bore CT simulator and movable LAP laser system. The center will offer programs in IGRT and IMRT. A comprehensive QA, radiation safety, and quality management program will already be in-place at the center.

Urologic Consultants of SE Pennsylvania is a private physician-owned company located in Bala Cynwyd, PA (a beautiful suburb of Philadelphia). The center will be associated with the Department of Radiation Oncology at Drexel University. You will work with a group of excellent physicians in a friendly environment surrounded by a beautiful center. The candidate will have ample opportunity to participate in education and research activities, if they so desire.

Requirements and Compensation:
Qualified candidates will have a MS or PhD in medical physics, and certification by the ABR in therapeutic radiological physics or medical physics or ABMP in radiation oncology physics. Also required are five years of postgraduate degree work experience in medical physics as it applies to radiation oncology. The candidate must have a solid background in radiation safety, QA, and pertinent regulations. The candidate must have a desire to establish and implement quality physics program. Experience with Varian’s ARIA and IGRT is very desirable. The candidate must also possess effective communication, leadership, and management skills. The candidate will be eligible to attend a number of on and off-site Varian classes. The Director of Physics will report directly to the Medical Director. An excellent salary and benefits package is offered, including in-depth training, professional meetings, medical, dental, 401K, and performance bonus.
