Director of Clinical Examinations
The National Board of Examiners in Optometry is an established, non-profit corporation primarily engaged in testing and evaluation. The National Board has a full-time staff of eleven, utilizes over 600 people nationwide in support of its examination programs and has an annual budget in excess of $3.5 million. We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our office in Charlotte, NC.
Director of Clinical Examinations
The individual in this role will report to the Executive Director to drive the ongoing development of the National Board's Part III Patient Care (Patient Assessment and Management and Clinical Skills Examination) and Advanced Competence in Medical Optometry (ACMO) examinations.
Key responsibilities include:
· Organizing and interfacing with members of each of the Clinical Examination Development Committees (PAM, CSE), as well as the Examination Councils via face-to-face meetings and distance conferencing
· Preparing all Clinical Examination Development Committee meeting agenda materials and logistics, test printouts and examination drafts
· Providing guidance to the Manager of Examinations to coordinate clinical test sites, procuring necessary clinical equipment and supplies, scheduling clinical examiners and preparing all forms, badge, and related paperwork
· Communicating with and training of item writers and case authors
· Maintaining a database of cases and related test items and the corresponding images
· Performing editing and quality control procedures relating to examination preparation
· Undertaking research activities and participating in the development of new testing methods to assess optometric competence
· Performing scoring with quality assurance for the clinical examinations
· Coordinating with the registrar for reporting of scores to clients
· Facilitating preparation of statistical reports in concert with the staff Psychometrician
· Providing workshop instruction on assessment methods for faculty of academic institutions
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have an O.D. degree from an accredited optometric institution and passing scores on all three National Board examination parts, including TMOD. A minimum of 5 years of optometric clinical care experience, preferably in a multidisciplinary, secondary or advanced-care setting and completion of an accredited optometric residency training program. Experience as a clinical professor or as adjunct clinical faculty to an optometry school or college of optometry and experience supervising optometry students or residents in a clinical setting. Expert knowledge of computer systems and software, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, Photoshop, the Internet as well as the ability to quickly learn and master new computer software. Skill with modern distance conferencing techniques, including products such as Microsoft Live Meeting highly desired.
