Director, Supply Chain Projects and Planning
Company Info: The Medicines Company is focused on advancing the treatment of critical care patients through the delivery of innovative, cost-effective medicines to the worldwide hospital marketplace. The Company markets an intravenous anti-coagulant in the United States and other countries for use in patients undergoing coronary angioplasty as well as an intravenous antihypertensive for the reduction of blood pressure when oral therapy is not feasible or not desirable. The Company is developing an intravenous anti-platelet blocking agent. The Company is publicly traded on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker symbol MDCO. It was founded in 1996 and employs approximately 400 professionals.The Medicines Company is currently looking for a Director, Supply Chain Projects and Planning responsible for managing the Supply Chains for both international development and commercial operations. Action orientated team player who is goal oriented and willing to go above and beyond the job. Excellent project management/leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
·        Manage strategic partnerships for both Drug Substance and Drug Product suppliers
o   Support manufacturing operations project management
o   Support techinical process improvments, scale-up and/or tech transfer projects
o   Manage new supply and current partners in related projects
o   Develop Commercial Supply Requirements based upon Sales/Marketing Forecasts
o   Oversee production schedules and logistics to ensure adequate inventory on a global basis
·        Interface with internal business teams to manage multiple projects
o   Manage requirements for MDCO’s international partners and relay clinical program timelines to clinical supply chain team
o   Coordinate all label/carton/Package Insert version changes for the U.S. and International Partners in a timely manner
o   Ensure an adequate supply of finished product to the global distributors while meeting company expectations regarding inventory management
o   Work with National Accounts team on contract agreements
o   Ensure adequate clinical supply (bulk) on a global basis

Qualifications:
·        5 - 7 years supply chain management in the biopharmaceutical industry
·        Operations Management, involvement in Parenteral manufacturing processes; strong understanding of and hands-on experience in manufacturing
·        Demonstrated strength in contract negotiations
·        Lean / Six Sigma certified desireable
·        Effective, proven, communication skills; ability to identify and preempt conflict management issues
·        BS, Life Sciences/MBA desirable
·        APICS Certification desirable
·        Knowledge of GMP’s and ability to work closely with Technical Operations, Clinical, Regulatory and Quality is very important
