Director - Perioperative Services (RF-Variable)
Exempt/Gr. N7 - Salary is commensurate with experience, skills, etc.BASIC JOB PURPOSEUnder general supervision, PROVIDES administrative and financial accountability for planning, directing, staffing, coordinating, and controlling functions and activities of all phases of Perioperative Services Department which include Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Preoperative Evaluation Center, and combined Outpatient and A.M. Admit Center; COORDINATES and DIRECTS activities between and within various substructures of organization to accomplish departmental and organizational goals; SERVES as role model; DEMONSTRATES compliance and Principles of Responsibility; MAINTAINS confidentiality; PROTECTS organizational assets; EXHIBITS ethics and integrity; ADHERES to applicable federal and state laws and regulations, accreditation and licensing requirements, policies and procedures; REPORTS and/or RESOLVES issues of non-compliance.On a regular, sustained basis, COOPERATES with other staff members both within and outside the department in accomplishment of own job duties as well as assisting others in accomplishing theirs. SERVES as team player and role model for other employees in the Organization; always exhibiting traits of courtesy, caring, helpfulness and respect. CONDUCTS oneself in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, cooperative, sensitive, respectful and kind when dealing with members, visitors, the public and all employees.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION/TRAININGBachelors degree in Nursing.Equivalent combination of education (lesser) & experience may be considered in lieu of requirements.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONValid Hawaii RN license(must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure).Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.EXPERIENCE/OTHER Five years related nursing experience.Three years managerial experience in a major Medical Center O.R. or related area.Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in: decision making, conflict resolution, change management, influence, oral communication, written communication, problem solving, quality management, and team building.Equivalent combination of education & experience (lesser) may be considered in lieu of requirements.A skill assessment (e.g., typing, pharmacology, ward clerk) is required for this position. Candidates will be considered only upon passing the appropriate skill assessment.COMMUNICATION AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTSTalking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, on the telephone and supervising others. Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English. Training/giving and receiving instructions. Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g., organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, alertness.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION/TRAININGMasters degree in Nursing, MPH or Business Administration.
