For others it's the ability to make a difference in people's lives or to take on growing levels of responsibility and leadership.If your motivation is to truly make a life-saving difference in your community, please read on.About Mission: LifelineEach year, thousands of patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) fail to receive critical reperfusion therapy for their infarct artery in a timely fashion. Even worse, nearly 30 percent of patients with STEMI do not receive any reperfusion treatment. Mission: Lifeline? is the American Heart Association's national initiative to advance systems of care for STEMI patients. The initiative seeks to reduce mortality and morbidity and improve the overall quality of care for STEMI patients.The ultimate goal of Mission: Lifeline? is to save lives by closing the gaps that separate STEMI patients from timely access to the appropriate treatments.These grant funded, project-based positions have been newly formed to focus attention on managing the development and implementation of regional systems for treating STEMI patients and saving lives. Key Functions:Key functions of this position are based upon achieving measurable life-saving outcomes. They include:' Development of key EMS leadership relationships and integration of EMS into systems of STEMI care.' Development of partnerships among system stakeholders sharing STEMI population of a community- EMS, non-PCI center & PCI center staff including emergency medicine and nursing, cardiac catheterization lab staff and cardiology, administration and quality improvement staff. ' Recruitment and engagement to action of volunteers from representative disciplines within the medical community.' Cultivation and development of key market stakeholder relationships impacting program goals such as: local business coalitions, hospital systems or health plans.' Effective management of all regional elements of the Mission: Lifeline program including program administration, evaluation, education and supporting communication to internal and external customers.' Work with State Heath Alliances Director to align and integrate regional activity with the state strategic action plan for Mission: Lifeline.' Work with and support the State Health Alliances Director in the development of a state-wide Mission: Lifeline initiative, including the state stakeholder and/or leadership groups. This position requires experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively build and manage collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and program implementers. This includes a bachelor's degree combined with two years progressively responsible healthcare or pre-hospital related experience, preferably in clinical or quality improvement. Additional strengths include:' Demonstrated understanding of systems and care and how to build alliances and collaboratives to form a system of care.' Ability to influence local and regional colleagues and work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to achieve positive results.' Ability to build and manage relationships with external alliances.' Expertise in project management.' Knowledge of cardiac and/or stroke care is helpful.' Highly effective relationship building, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills are essential.
