PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:Responsible for the design of the overall strategy behind the three GH Brands - Saizen, Serostim and Zorbtive - in the Endocrinology TA. Responsible for the development and implementation of the Brand business plans, of marketing programs and tactics to deliver the strategy for each GH brand. Responsible for the planning and execution of the POA process within all GH brands in Endocrinology. Leads the product management team to develop sound business brand plans that are aligned with the strategy set forth in the Global Franchise Business Plan (for Saizen). Ensures appropriate communication across TA with sales and medical in the development of the business plans. Works as a direct interface with US Endocrinology TA and essential services, and with Serono Corporate Saizen Medical / Marketing in Geneva. Drives Endocrinology GH Brands (Saizen, Serostim && Zorbtive) prescription demand in terms of new therapy starts and ongoing patient retention. Drives US Endocrinology GH brands toward market leadership. Provides leadership in the creation of tactical plans for each brand and is responsible for ensuring the Tactical Plan is implemented effectively. Responsible for management of the Operating Expenses budget for brand promotion. Coordinates Saizen, Serostim and Zorbtive Lifecycle Management planning with US product management, VP of Marketing, VP of Medical, GPDU and Corporate marketing when applicable. Ensures message testing is done with target audience. Ensures promotional materials are tested with Sales Force prior to rollout and following use to determine effect in market. Implements Medical Education programming. Develops the Marketing team. MAIN INTERFACES:INTERNAL WITHIN EMD SERONO, Inc.:US Metabolic Endocrinology team including Sales (KAMs, ABDs, SAMs, DSAM, EBDs, VP Sales), Medical Affairs and Medical Operations (Medical Liaisons, Medical Directors, VP Medical Affairs), Marketing team (Product Management, Call Center manager, BI and Market Research), Endocrinology Essential Services team (Controller, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Human Resources, Communications), Corporate and ROW Commercial Endocrinology teams, US and ROW Endocrinology GPDU teams, Supply Chain, Managed Markets, Data Warehouse, Legal counsellors, Regulatory Affairs and US Essential Services including Corporate Communications, Finance, IT, Procurement.EXTERNAL TO EMD SERONO, Inc.: Key Opinion Leaders, Customers, Agencies, Vendors, Contractors, Consultants, Advocacy Groups (e.g. National ASOs, Magic Foundation, Human Growth Foundation), Trade Groups, Ped Endo && HIV Professional Associations (e.g. LWPES, HIV Academy) KEY TASKS && RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for overseeing the design of Brand strategy, the creation of programs and tactics that assist the sales department in generating prescription demand to support Net Sales Goals (BSC target for Serostim, Saizen && Zorbtive)Responsible for managing and leading the US Endocrinology Marketing team for the GH BrandsWork with VP, Marketing, Endocrinology to set strategies and objectives for team.Direct the professional and consumer marketing strategy and tactics behind the US Serostim, Saizen && Zorbtive marketing plans within Corporate and FDA regulatory guidelines.Drive and manage the implementation of all the US Endocrinology Professional and Consumer Marketing programs and plans for the GH Brands.Play a leading role in the construction of the US Endocrinology GH business plan.Develop direct reports ensuring that all marketing personnel receive proper training to perform their jobs effectively.Provide leadership to direct reports that focuses team members on attaining results in a highly dynamic environment: coaching, performance management, development of people, etc.Maintain close collaboration between Marketing and all other functions within the US Therapeutic Areas, particularly Sales, Medical Affairs, TA Communications, to leverage marketing expertise and programs as appropriate.Maintain close collaboration between Marketing and the EU and International Saizen Marketing team.Maintain close collaboration and active participation in the international product development teams.Work with TA Communications to ensure consistent and accurate external messaging.Oversee the brand marketing budget for Saizen, Serostim and Zorbtive.Proactively develop and execute marketing projects with vendor agencies from concept through implementation for US Endocrinology GH Products. This includes development of marketing tools, programs, and services that fulfill brand strategies and objectives.Responsible for tactical implementation including but not limited to live programs, collateral materials, teleconferences, speaker training, key opinion leader development, advisory boards, slide development, and competitive responses.Work in close collaboration with sales management to ensure successful development and implementation of programs, tools, and services with consistent marketing messages.Conduct field visits as necessary to evaluate effectiveness of marketing programs, tools, and services.Work in close collaboration with medical affairs directors to secure scientific and credible data in support of product marketing messages.Monitor marketing and sales performance against key competitors based on main market indicators and proactively develop plans to effectively compete. Provide direction to Sales Training, regarding key messages, POA rollout, and competitive landscape in order to implement comprehensive training of all sales personnel on professional marketing programs and strategies.Conduct marketing audits in areas to continuously identify/disseminate marketing best practices of high-performance areas. Other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION && LANGUAGES§ BA/BS required§ MBA or advanced degree preferred PROFESSIONAL SKILLS && EXPERIENCE§ Requires 8-10 years related marketing experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry or equivalent experience in a consumer and/or professional marketing organization with increasing magnitude of responsibility.
