Director, Cambridge-Somerville Early Intervention
Position Summary: We are looking for a professional with supervisory and managerial experience in child and family services, including at least 5 years of management experience in an early intervention program. The Director of Cambridge-Somerville Early Intervention will oversee all clinical, administrative, fiscal and operational aspects of the program. We are looking for a visionary and enthusiastic leader who promotes a positive and collaborative work environment for staff, looks to explore and develop new program initiatives and affiliations, partners with senior leadership on management of the program and other Agency clinical activities, and represents the Agency in the community and with funders/referral sources.Â

Primary Responsibilities: The Director, Cambridge-Somerville Early Intervention reports to the Director, Early Childhood Services, and is responsible for the following: supervising program staff, including coordinators, clinical and administrative staff; articulating and implementing Agency & program goals, overseeing hiring, staff development & training, and performance activities; leading and supervising the development of program goals, objectives and performance targets; identifying gaps in services and developing proposals for new initiatives; overseeing and monitoring the quality of program clinical services, ensuring the appropriate delivery of practice guidelines & protocols consistent with the Department of Public Health (DPH) and agency policies, and providing consultation in difficult cases; working with senior leadership to ensure the integration of clinical and fiscal operations including participating in the development and implementation of budgets, and providing oversight of billing functions and contractual requirements; participating in agency work and peer groups facilitating operational planning, grant selection, review of Agency and clinical standards, and creation of new or expanding services; and representing GCI’s programs, building collaborations and acting as a liaison with DPH, other funders, referral sources and community providers.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a masters’ degree in early childhood or special education, social work or a related field, and have a current certification as an Early Intervention Specialist (CEIS).  DPH certification as an EI Director is preferred, but we will consider candidates who agree to fulfill the state portfolio requirements as an EI Director within three years of hire. Five to ten years of demonstrated experience managing the clinical and administrative functions of an early intervention program is preferred. Strong communication and leadership skills and supervisory experience is required.
Program Description: Cambridge Somerville Early Intervention (C-SEI) is a program of The Guidance Center, Inc. (GCI), and serves children from birth to age three. Children who qualify for the program have, or are at risk of having, developmental delays due to problems resulting from a difficult or premature birth, conditions such as Down syndrome or Cerebral Palsy, or environmental and/or social concerns (poverty, family violence, a parent’s mental illness) that pose a threat to a child's development.  C-SEI’s goal is to promote each child's optimal development through family-centered, therapeutic interventions. C-SEI specialists establish a collaborative partnership with parents to help support every parent and child through the daily issues of growth and development, particularly when the child faces physical challenges. Connecting families to community resources and supporting transitions to appropriate services after the child's third birthday are integral to our family services plans.
