Decision Support Analyst

Position Summary: Maintains the Decision Support System (DSS) through extracting, reporting, interpreting, analyzing, and otherwise using cost and utilization information. Maintain and support a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance for Decision Support. Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures and performs in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, external laws and accreditation standards as they relate to Decision Support. Makes customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; develops and sustains productive customer relationships. Actively seeks information to understand customer circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs. Builds rapport and cooperative relationship with customers. Considers how actions or plans will affect customers; responds quickly to meet customer needs and resolves problems.Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in business administration or related area with an emphasis in accounting or finance. Four years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial planning. Proficient use of personal computer spreadsheet software and general knowledge of software applications related to database maintenance and reporting also required. Must possess good written and oral communication skills. Position Preferences: Cost accounting and/or experience in health care setting. Experience with health care decision support systems such as HBOC/McKesson, Eclipsys/TSI or HCm/Avega. Familiarity with SQL. Demonstrated customer service skills, customer focus abilities and the ability to understand Kaiser Permanente customer needs.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Analyzes, extracts and provides costing information necessary to maintain the Decision Support System. Trains department divisional managers and staff in the concepts of cost accounting and develops relationships to ensure acceptance and appropriate maintenance of the system. Provides ongoing technical and analytical support to DSS. Assists key system users in the efficient and effective use of the system. Prepares ad hoc reports from DSS upon request.
