Database Developer MSSQL

Database Developer MSSQLDescription: MS SQL Development DBA needed in RTP, North Carolina to support the NVSS project team. NCHS's Division of Vital Statistics is leading a major effort to redesign the legacy birth records system. The purpose of this work is to develop the database design for the re-engineered National Vital Statistics System (NVSS). DVS has completed an operational evaluation of the NVSS and more recently is in the process of developing the functional and non-functional requirements for a re-designed system. From these processes it was concluded that DVS needs to move the NVSS from primarily a mainframe based system to SQL Server to improve performance and to minimize the amount of manual interventions necessary to process records. Following the completion of the requirements phase of this Project, DVS will be ready to move to the Design phase of this project and need the services of an experienced DBA to assist in the planning, evaluation and development of a database design for the new system. The selected developer DBA will: (1) plan, design and develop the database design for the new NVSS using SQL Server. The contractor will develop the data model for the NVSS consisting of the data flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, and logical and physical database design. This person will communicate through the project manager to management, technicians, and end-users to evaluate needs prior to the development of the database design and the automated solution. (2) evaluate data base design trade-offs, performance levels, and space allocation requirements to meet the needs as found in the Requirements Analysis Study of the NVSS, (3) test the proposed design once developed, (4) develop a written narrative of the database design, including all relevant diagrams, (5) advise the Project Manager on any changes to the proposed high-level view of the re-designed NVSS, including the linkage of the NVSS database with data stored on the Mid-Tier Data Center. The qualified candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Assist in developing and maintaining Physical Data Models from Logical Models. Installing, configuring, and supporting databases and related software. Responsible for database security, and architecture. Understanding and critiquing concepts expressed in process models, data models (logical and physical), spreadsheets, work flow diagrams, data sourcing project plans, and logical flow charts. Creating and using transformation logic documentation. Interpreting the transformation rules for all target data objects and develop the software components to support the transformation. Providing Mapping documentation from sources to targets. Participating in first-level problem resolution tasks. Participating in all phases of the re-engineering of the NVSS system development cycle.
