Data Analyst, or Senior Data Analyst or Ld-34526

WellPoint is the nation's leading health benefits company serving the needs of approximately 28 million medical members nationwide.Position preferably will be located in VA.  Responsible for serving as expert in data analysis, reporting and formulating recommendations and provides guidance to other data analysts. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: creates and maintains databases to track operational performance; analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures; develops and analyzes operational performance reports (e.g., for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies; creates and publishes periodic reports, as well as any necessary ad hoc reports. May require taking operational issue and devising best way to develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data that will translate business requirements into usable decision support tools. May make recommendations based upon data analysis. Performs other duties as assigned.BS/BA, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and a minimum of 3-5 years experience required. Experience with SAS required. Proficiency with SQL and Access is also preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with good written communication skills required.
