POSITION:
Courier Supervisor
I.
Primary Responsibility
This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the logistics system as it applies to the day to day field operation of specimen transport.
II.
Job Duties:
1.      Evaluates and supports needs of the couriers in their region.
2.      Assesses and optimizes route schedules on a routine basis to optimize service levels for the clients’ needs.
3.      Plans, coordinates and maintains quality performance of the vehicle. Reports mileage on a monthly basis to the Regional Transportation Manager.
4.      Interacts with staff and other managers to evaluate and maintain service level, i.e., Regional Director, Specimen Management, Customer Service, Field Service, Sales, etc.
5.      Provides training for all drivers under their supervision both initially and ongoing.
6.      Works with the Regional Transportation Manager in assessing operating and capital budget for areas of responsibility, and ensures that their region is operating within the guidelines.
7.      Interviews, hires, and provides ongoing feedback and evaluation of personnel. Assures compliance with all personnel policies and procedures.
8.      Communicates with, and assists, other leaders to ensure organizational goals are obtained.
9.      Works closely with the Regional Transportation Manager and Regional Director of Sales to assure smooth coordination of activities with other departments.
10.  Evaluates limited use of outsource services. Recommends actions consistent with mission and vision.
11.  Maintains accurate courier logs and records of all pertinent information.
12.  Maintains knowledge of transportation regulations to assure system wide compliance.

Qualifications and Experience:
College degree preferred.
A minimum of three years successful supervisory / management experience required.
Logistics experience necessary, including route maintenance, customer service, specimen tracking, and telecommunications.
License / certification as required.

Must be an analytical thinker.
Must possess sound computer knowledge.
Good organizational and teamwork skills.
