Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety Manager

Basic Purpose: This position, as part of the Corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Team, will focus initially on providing Environmental, Health, and Safety services to the Anatomic and Dermatology pathology organizations. Other client base, EHS technical specialty, and geographic responsibilities may be assigned in the future. Accountabilities: 1. Accountable to prevent occupational injuries, reduce the cost of Worker's Compensation cases, ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety related government requirements and promote corporate programs for environmental sustainability. 2. Plans, prioritizes, designs, implements, and manages Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies, Programs, and Processes company-wide to derive the benefits of a sustainable and results oriented EHS management system. 3. Provides leadership, support and subject matter expertise to Environmental, Health, and Safety Managers, Specialists or other designated Environmental, Health, and Safety liaison at operating and corporate sites. 4. Provides knowledgeable input and decisions to the strategic leadership of the Environmental, Health, and Safety function. Supports and advises Environmental, Health, and Safety Leader to provide leadership to the company on Environmental, Health, and Safety issues. 5. Travels to operating and corporate sites to provide onsite consultation and auditing. 6. Identifies and evaluates deficiencies and responds with prevention strategies, including targeted Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives. 7. Implements and monitors tracking and reporting systems to measure and display the EHS Key Result Indicators and other outcomes. 8. Responsible for ensuring that environmental, health, and safety programs are implemented at field locations. 9. Manages Environmental, Health, and Safety interface and cooperative programs with insurers (auto, asset and worker compensation programs). 10. Responsible for responding to new Environmental, Health, and Safety legislation and ensuring its incorporation into company programs. 11. Interface and negotiate with regulatory authorities to positively affect corrections for non-compliance and reduce the assessment of penalties and disruption of business activities. 12. Supports and develops all members of Environmental, Health, and Safety team; cross-trains other EHS team members. 13. Contributes to cross-functional teams and collaborates with other disciplines in company to ensure Environmental, Health, and Safety excellence and effectiveness (e.g. due diligence, logistics, medical, quality assurance, compliance, best practice, six sigma and patient service teams). Bachelor's degree in EHS related program of science or engineering (e.g. environmental management, environmental health, industrial hygiene, epidemiology, safety engineering or safety management) and at least ten years experience with substantial environmental, health and safety program management responsibilities. Master's degree in related field or professional certifications (e.g. CSP, CIH, REM, HEM, CHMM) in environmental and safety management desired. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret EHS related statutory and regulatory law and industry practices. Familiarity with agency administrative processes. Proficient ability with word processing and spreadsheet personal computer software. Experience using Internet to access government and industry information resources. Effective verbal and written communication skills and experience writing and administering effective training presentations.
