Phoenix Childrens Hospital is the only specialty childrens hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the states largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. Primary Purpose: This position will assign and sequence ICD-9-CM/CPT-4 diagnostic and procedural codes for designated service lines for data retrieval, billing, and reimbursement. Work Environment: Work activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to long periods of sitting and use of a desktop computer. Frequent physical demands may include stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing objects of varying weights up to and including 20 pounds. Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflict. Must communicate clearly in English. Requires the ability to speak, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties of the job. Effective and positive human relations skills are required, including confidentiality, in order to appropriately interface with all levels of Phoenix Children's Hospital staff, physicians, patients, their families and other contacts. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree 1-2 years acute care ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding experience and/or clinical experience, or Radiology Technology credentials. Knowledge of charging and billing processes.
