Improving Lives.  POSITION SUMMARY:* Responsible for coding of pathology reports for correct ICD9 codes and verifying CPT codes for correctness POSITION RESPONSIBILITY: * Accurately code pathology reports using the correct ICD9 code on 350 accounts per day * Verify that accounts have accurate CPT coding * Make phone calls and send faxes to doctor offices for patient information * Responsible for filing and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patients, physicians, employees, clients, vendors, and Ameripath * Comply with all State, Federal, and professional regulations as well as departmental policies and procedural manuals * Adherence to HIPAA Regulations * Other duties as assigned by the supervisorADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: * 2+ years experience in CPT and ICD-9 coding* Certified Medical Coder * Ability to read, analyze and interpret pathology reports* Ability to work independently or in a team * Be able to prioritize a heavy workload * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral AmeriPath offers competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and outstanding career growth opportunities.  AmeriPath is an equal opportunity employer.
