Job Description: Job Description:The Clinic & Birth Visit Coordinator (Clinical Research Supervisor) provides leadership and oversight to the day-to-day data collection activities of the Queens Vanguard Center field research team. S/he will manage the assignments and scheduling of 5+ staff members (i.e. research nurses, sonographer, and other research staff) who will conduct visits in study clinic offices and in hospitals throughout Queens. S/he will oversee data collection activities, including survey administration, biological sample collection, physical measures, neurobehavioral assessments, and medical chart reviews. The Clinic & Birth Visit Coordinator will also be responsible for working with Investigators to develop and implement regular quality assurance procedures. S/he will be responsible for tracking and evaluating individual staff and team productivity and clinic and birth visit completion rates. During the planning phase of the Study, the Clinic & Birth Visit Coordinator will coordinate and conduct hospital meetings, prepare documentation and tailor operational plans for birth visits, and maintain communications with all hospital affiliates to ensure readiness and compliance with NCS protocols at each delivery hospital in Queens. The Clinic & Birth Visit Coordinator will also work with the QVC Team to set up field clinic sites and develop clinic operational plans, and to hire, train, and certify field staff. Towards these efforts, the s/he will maintain extensive communications with Investigators, the OB Operations Manager, the Queens Study Coordinator, and other Visit Coordinators (Field Supervisors) as well as with the NCS Program Office and Coordinating Center. The Clinic & Birth Visit Coordinator will be a Mount Sinai employee and based out of the QVC Field Offices in Elmhurst, Queens, with periodic work days at the Columbia University Medical Center and Mount Sinai School of Medicine campuses in Manhattan. S/he will work under the direction and guidance of the OB Operations Manager and Queens Study Coordinator. Study Description:The National Children's Study (NCS) is a long-term research project that will examine environmental influences on children's health and development. The Study seeks to identify the causes of a variety of childhood health conditions including birth defects, asthma, obesity, diabetes, injuries and learning and developmental disabilities. Researchers will follow 100,000 children from before birth to age 21 in order to evaluate how environmental influences interact and determine which aspects of the environment are harmful and which are helpful to children's health and development. The NY-NJ NCS Center, lead by the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, is one of 26 national centers selected to lead the implementation of the National Children's Study.Job Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field. Five years experience in a comparable clinical research environment, including 3 years of supervisory experience. Current New York State RN (LPN) registration preferred. Flexible work schedule, valid driver's license, ability to travel regularly within Queens, and attendance at out-of-town trainings required. Queens residency and familiarity with Queens neighborhoods preferred. Required Skills:Position requires knowledge and experience in the field of public health nursing, and/or clinical research and demonstrated skills in project coordination, management, and supervision. Must demonstrate: ability to serve as a leader in a team environment; ability to apply research expertise to various data collection activities; strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage, monitor, and motivate staff; excellent communication, organization, and computer skills; independent work initiative; sound judgment; and strong problem-solving skills.
