Job Description: Job Description:The Nassau County Study Coordinator/Operations Manager (Clinical Research Manager) provides leadership within the New York-New Jersey National Children's Study Center (NY-NJ NCS Center) research team for the implementation of the Study in Nassau County. S/he has the overall responsibility of planning and monitoring data collection and quality assurance procedures for all Study visits, interviews, biospecimens, environmental samples, physical examinations, and neurobehavioral assessments. S/he is responsible for assuring that the day-to-day operations of the Study in Nassau County adhere to research protocols and meet NCS objectives at the highest level of quality. Towards this effort the Study Coordinator/Operations Manager maintains extensive communications with the field staff, Nassau County Location PI, and other investigators as well as with the NCS Program Office and Coordinating Center. He/she will independently direct field operations, lead the hiring and training of all staff, and supervise an off-site field team of over 30 individuals. Study Description:The National Children's Study (NCS) is a long-term research project that will examine environmental influences on children's health and development. The goal is to identify the causes of a variety of health problems including birth defects and other pregnancy-related problems, asthma, obesity, diabetes, injuries and developmental delays. Researchers will follow 100,000 children from before birth to age 21 in order to evaluate how environmental influences interact and determine which aspects of the environment are harmful and which are helpful to children's health and development. The NY-NJ NCS Center, lead by the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, is one of 26 national centers selected to lead the implementation of the National Children's Study.Job Qualifications: Required Qualifications:Master's in Public Health required. Five or more years of related experience in a comparable research environment required. Required Skills:Position requires knowledge and research experience in the fields of epidemiology and environmental health and demonstrated skills in project coordination, supervision, and management. Must demonstrate: ability to serve as a leader in a team environment, supervisory experience, excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability lead and motivate individuals of diverse backgrounds and personalities; ability to apply research expertise to various of data collection designs and activities and serve as a resource in such areas; excellent organizational and prioritizing skills; independent work initiative, sound judgment; strong problem-solving skills; diplomacy and a professional demeanor; and motivation to promote continuing education and improve research practice.
