POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision of Director of Infectious Disease Laboratory, establish and develop a scientific program involving breast cancer research. The goals of this effort will be aligned with the Institution's interest and be conducted as a collaborative effort between the laboratory of Infectious disease and the clinicians. Performance of Infectious disease techniques directed in the area of Quinolones. In addition to the performance of these analytical approaches, design and execute novel experimental techniques integrating advances in biotechniques. Provides a variety of support to the professional and support staff of the Institution.
Plans, prepares and analyzes research experiments.
Evaluates research data and initiatives alternative approaches to improve quality of results.
Monitors daily research activities including quality control and safety.
Assists in the compilation of information and statistics for grant applications.
Conduct procedures based on methods either published or routinely used. The decision to change protocols will be appropriately recorded and discussed with Director. The decision to adopt such changes will be made in consultation.
Establish link with other departments with whom cross-disciplinary research could be developed.
Continue to build the project's links with industrial, commercial and other academic partners outside the Institution.
Participate in the formulation of the Laboratory's scientific program and budget, ensuring the effective operation of his/her projects within the limitations of the approved budget.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Minimum for this position is BS with at least three years of experience in the laboratory. Proven expertise in both Infectious disease with demonstrated ability to perform independent research. Demonstrated ability to complete research projects within established time frames.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Strong organizational and communication skill, ability to function independently and to devise creative ways of obtaining information, knowledge of medical terminology and medical practice, ability to interact with professional personnel at all levels, knowledge of computer databases and knowledge of computer word processing systems. In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.
Experience: At least 5 years of clinical/hospital operations experience, at least 3 years of research study experience or data management experience.
