Clinical Psychologist
Maxim Government Services (MGS), a division of Maxim Healthcare Services, is currently in search of a Psychologist for a full time employment opportunity at a Residential Center located in Johnstown, New York.
The Psychologist is needed to perform psychological assessment, individual psycho therapy, crisis assessment and intervention, group and family treatment, and discharge planning of youth patients.

Duties:
A - Assessment
1 - Provides initial screening assessment beyond that provided at Reception Center as needed.
2 - Provides individual assessment for all treatment cases:
All disciplines: Assessment can include mental status and/or scales for trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, etc.
Psychologists: cognitive and/or personality testing as may be required for treatment planning purposes or for Committee on Special Education.
B - Individual psychotherapy
1 - Individual treatment is goal-focused, strengths-based, relates directly to treatment plan, uses objective measures of progress, and is culturally sensitive.
2 - Treatment utilizes Evidence Based Practices for an identified primary mental health disorder.
3 - Both youth and youth’s family are involved in identifying and establishing treatment goals.
4 - Comprehensive treatment extends beyond issues of program adjustment, including targeting skills needed for more adaptive functioning in the community.
C - Crisis Assessment and Intervention
1 - Provide assessment in situations involving self-harm and/or suicidality as well as psychiatric decompensation. Based on recognized risk factors assess degree of risk and intervene accordingly, including making recommendations for supervision precautions per agency policies.
2 - In conjunction with OMH personnel facilitate admission to psychiatric hospital when indicated per program and agency procedures.
D - Group Treatment
1 - Develop and implement treatment groups based on identified needs.
2 - Utilize evidence-based group treatment curricula when available.
E - Family Treatment
1 - Involve families in treatment to greatest extent feasible, including phone and/or teleconference contacts.
2 - Inform guardians of youth’s treatment progress as well as any significant changes in functioning.
3 - Coordinate efforts with community providers, including MST.
F - Treatment Planning
1 - Involvement in youth’s OCFS Treatment Plan (RBA), clinical treatment plan, specific behavioral plans (BIPs), and/or IEPs as indicated.
G - Discharge planning
1 - In collaboration with YC and CMSO, provide linkage with community-based services per assessed needs of youth and family, including continuity of care for youth on psychiatric medications.
2 - Advocate for youth to receive treatment within the least restrictive setting following discharge.
H - Documentation
1 - Utilize agency approved standardized clinical documentation, complete documentation in a timely and competent manner.
2 - Participate in periodic record reviews by Bureau of Behavioral Health Services personnel.
