More than 8,000 babies are born at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women each year, more than any other hospital in California. In just 10 years, the hospital has become a leader in the state in delivering babies and caring for pregnant women. But there are many more services offered at the hospital than obstetrics.

One of the first of only 17 freestanding women's hospitals in the nation, Sharp Mary Birch provides a full range of women's health care services that cover every stage of a woman's life. Sharp Mary Birch is a part of Sharp HealthCare, which has been recognized for quality excellence with the 2007 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award

 

 

Location

This position is located at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women in Kearny Mesa.

Hours

8 hour shift: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, no weekends.

QualificationsMaster or doctoral prepared RN required.Minimum of three-five years recent clinical experience in specialty areas. Current California Registered Nurse licensure required.Current CPR certification required.IBCLC strongly preferred. Superb interpersonal skills as well as oral, written, and presentation skills.

Summary

Applies expertise in theory and/or research based nursing practice within Maternal Infant Services units and Lactation and functions as a clinical expert, educator, researcher, and constellate. Clients include patient/family, nursing staff and organization. Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women (SMBHW) is a tertiary free-standing women's hospital that delivers over 8000 babies annually. The Maternal Infant Services (MIS) Unit is a very busy 72 bed mother-baby unit with a staff of over 160 that practices in a very progressive and fast paced environment. The Lactation department provides service throughout the hospital including the NICU by Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women is a member of the Council of Women's and Infant's Specialty Hospitals (CWISH) and received the national Baldridge Award winner in 2007.
