Clinical Nurse Leader

The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) is accountable for patient care outcomes through the assimilation and application of research based information, contributing to the design, implementation and evaluation of care planning across the continuum of the patient’s hospitalization. The CNL is specialty based and focuses on managing patient populations including, but not limited to, patients with extended length of stay. Fundamental aspects of the CNL are leadership, provision and development of evidenced based practice guidelines, clinical decision making, care planning design and implementation risk anticipation, client advocacy, patient and staff education and information management, proactive interdisciplinary collaboration and accountability for evaluation and improvement of point of care outcomes. * Provides leadership and continuity of care guidance for hospitalized patients with a focus on the extended length of stay population. * Supports and guides nursing staff with implementation of evidenced based practice guidelines to aide in directing patient care. * Assists staff in designing and implementing population based care through a combination of pathway utilization and individualized care planning. * Understands screening strategies for high-risk populations with the ability to translate preventative interventions to the unit-based environment. * Provides assistance with education and information management for patients with complex care coordination. * Accountable for evaluation and progressive improvement of financial, clinical, staff and patient outcome indicators. Required Qualifications: Current WA State RN license; Master's in Nursing or current enrollment in a Master's program; 5 years recent acute care nursing experience. Also required is excellent patient assessment skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. Preferred Qualifications: Med-Surg Certification through AACN and experience in managing complex patients in an inpatient setting.
