The Saint Barnabas Health Care System seeks an experienced Clinical IT Analyst specializing in CPOE/Physician Documentation to work within the Enterprise Clinical Information System Department. THis position reports to the Assistant Director, Medical Informatics


The Clinical IT Analyst is part of the SBHCS CIS team that is instrumental in the design, development and implementation of physician related components (Order Sets, Physician Order Entry, Physician Documentation of the core clinical systems and in driving and supporting the deployments of automated, enterprise CIS systems

The role is responsible for the design of order sets, documentation and testing functions during CIS implementations, on-going application support, as well as post Go-Live support The position works with a wide variety of groups across the health care system including medical and non-medical staff to build, test, document, facilitate training, and maintain a standardized clinical information system. Will support physicians and other health care providers with teaching of applications and functionality

Maintain a detailed understanding and working knowledge of the current CIS, its functions, and its relationship to other information systems within the enterprise.
Analyze problems in terms of system requirements and recognized approaches and modifications to take advantage of current and future technology
Function as an enterprise clinical analyst for the implementation and support for multi-affiliate, multidisciplinary CIS software packages
Work primarily with affiliate's clinical users to evaluate their requirements and help design solutions to meet their needs
Assist in collecting current state data and process work flows necessary to accurately develop CIS systems.
Serves as a key liaison between nursing, physicians, other clinical users and IT&S.
Analyze problems in terms of system requirements with the ability to identify and recommend modifications or changes
Maintain system support to optimize system utilization Recommends areas for process improvement
Manages activities related to assigned projects with primary responsibilities for ensuring that the team meets project objectives and deliverables
Coordinate with organization personnel to determine and recommend systems and program standards
Assist in testing system functionality as well as validating database integrity Identify integrations points of all CIS systems and incorporate into troubleshooting and testing components accordingly
Ability to work with different database tools for designing, building and testing various CIS systems
Help explain technical issues to clinical users and clinical issues to information systems staff, thus facilitating implementations and problem resolution
Ability to drive resolution to outstanding project issues within a timely manner
Analyze business and user needs, documents requirements and follows change control policies



EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related health care field preferred.


EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in clinical in an acute care hospital setting

Background in information technology or healthcare information systems at least 3 years; CPOE analyst experience desirable; knowledge and /or experience with Zynx and/or Cerner desirable. RN background and credentials desirable
*Clinical professional with 3-5 years clinical experience.

*Basic knowledge of databases

*Experience troubleshooting and proposing solutions in production operation

*Clinical system integration experience

*Installation experience with numerous clinical applications helpful

*Clinical information system experience strongly preferred and prior implementation experience highly beneficial

*Excellent communication skills in varied settings and venues

*Able to function in a team, group and individual environment

*Ability to collaborate and gain consensus within and outside work groups

*Teaching skills with computer or other educational experience a plus
