Child Care Worker/Van Driver
Outreach Project has been providing drug and alcohol services in the NY metropolitan area since 1980. Outreach Project's mission is "To empower individuals, families and communities to make choices which will enable them to experience a responsible life free from alcohol and other drug abuse".

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Full Time Child Care Worker/Van Driver at our outpatient substance abuse treatment facility located in Bellport, Long Island.
The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting supervisor in developing and coordinating transportation routes in order to facilitate safe and time transport of clients to and from treatment. Complete monthly reporting requirements on child care documentation requirements, van mileage, gasoline receipts, maintenance and client safety as assigned by supv; maintain easy to use system of filing, record keeping and other documentation. Inform supv of any problems or anticipated inability to meet deadlines. Maintain appropriate licensure and driving record. Provide information regarding child care and transportation services, client attendance and interaction with children, other client and clinical staff in a professional, ethical and caring manner. Provide supervision of children during client treatment sessions, interacting with the children in a caring and professional manner. Immediately report any suspicions or concerns about the welfare of the children to the supv and Program Coordinator. Demonstrate initiative in task identification and completion; use of time efficiently and work with supv to effectively handle volume of work. Develop skills to manage multiple priorities and insure timely responses. Maintain childcare area to insure cleanliness and safe conditions. Maintain inventory of supplies and records on a timely basis; request services for maintenance for all child care equipment. Provide back up coverage in the event of staff absences. Assist with filing, reception and other related tasks, i.e. inventory control of supplies, phone and front desk coverage, etc. Provide additional clerical support as necessary under the direction of the supv. Maintain computer skills that are appropriate to level needed for optimal job performance; proficient with using e-mail, WordPerfect and other programs as necessary.
In keeping with the agency mission, the nature of the programs we operate and the regulations of the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, the agency is alcohol, tobacco and drug free. This means that alcohol and drugs are not permitted in any form indoors or on the grounds of our facilities, and that all forms of tobacco use is prohibited indoors or on the grounds of our facilities.
Qualifications:
Must have a clean and valid NYS driver's license. Experience providing child care services required. General office experience preferred. Must be familiar with Suffolk County. Experience working in a substance abuse treatment or health field setting a plus.
This is a full time position which includes medical and dental insurance, life insurance, pension, etc.
